LO SPIRE DI LONDRA DEL GREENLAND GRUOP: IL GRATTACIELO RESIDENZIALE PIÙ ALTO D’EUROPA Il più grande grattacielo residenziale d’Europa si costruirà a Londra. A rivelarlo, gli architetti del prestigioso studio di architettura HOK, che hanno svelato i piani di costruzione di un grattacielo di ben 234 metri di altezza nella zona orientale di Londra. Nel progetto iniziale, che ovviamente potrebbe subire modifiche in corso di sviluppo, verranno separati gli appartamenti privati da quelli destinati a un uso sociale - ovvero negozi ed uffici - ma saranno comunque presenti entrambi.

THE GREENLAND GROUP’S SPIRE LONDON: EUROPE’S TALLEST RESIDENTIAL TOWER

Europe’s tallest residential tower is to be erected in London. The announcement was made by architects with the famous architecture studio HOK, when they revealed plans to build a skyscraper 234 meters tall on the east side of London. According to the initial plans, which could obviously change as the project progresses, private residences are to be kept separate from the shops and offices, but the building will, nonetheless, have both residential and business uses.

Lo Spire di Londra, così si chiamerà, è dunque destinato a diventare il più alto edificio residenziale del Regno Unito e di tutta l’Europa occidentale, almeno secondo chi l’ha progettato, ovvero la società cinese Greenland Group.

Spire London, as it is to be called, is destined to become the tallest residential building in the United Kingdom and in all of western Europe according to the building’s designers, the Chinese firm Greenland Group.

La torre, per la quale sono stati stanziati già 800 milioni di euro, conterrà 861 appartamenti dislocati su 67 piani, e verrà costruita su un sito che si affaccia su West India Quay, vicino a Canary Wharf, a est di Londra. Secondo il team che sta lavorando ormai da un paio di anni al progetto, esso si baserebbe sulla storia dell’orchidea, un fiore coltivato in Cina per più di 3.000 anni. A osservarlo bene, infatti, ci si rende subito conto che il disegno di HOK è costituito da tre parti realizzate in vetro che hanno la forma di “petali” e da altre parti che sembrano suggerire la poppa e la prua di una nave. Un tetto inclinato servirà a creare numerose terrazze di proprietà degli appartamenti dei piani superiori, che godranno così di una vista spettacolare sul paesaggio metropolitano, mentre le lamelle forniranno ventilazione naturale.

The tower, which is expected to cost 800 million euros to construct, will contain 861 apartments distributed over 67 floors and is to be erected in an area overlooking West India Quay, near Canary Wharf in east London. According to the team that has been working on the project for a couple of years now, the building is to be inspired by the history of the orchid, a flower that has been cultivated in China for over 3,000 years. Looking closely at HOK’s plans, we see, in fact, that the building’s design is composed of three glass sections in the form of “petals” and other sections that evoke the image of the prow and bow of a ship. The sloped roof will feature numerous terraces connected to the apartments on the upper floors, the owners of which will enjoy a spectacular view of the urban landscape below, and a series of louvers will provide natural ventilation.
